Southwest Milling Co. began with a simple belief: flour should have a story.

For too long, flour has been treated like a commodity, anonymous, overly processed, and disconnected from the farms and people who grow the grain. We started Southwest Milling Co. to help change that.

We source exceptional grain from individual farms across Michigan and the Great Lakes region, then stone-mill it in small batches to preserve more of the grain’s natural flavor, nutrition, and character. By retaining the germ and bran, our flour carries more of what makes each harvest distinct, richer taste, greater depth, and a clearer connection to the land it came from.

Our single-origin approach allows us to tell the full story of each grain, from the farm where it was grown to the flour used by local bakers, chefs, and food makers. We believe that when you know where your flour comes from, the food you make with it becomes more meaningful.
